0 Israel Vibration: Kisah 3 Orang Penderita Polio Yang Memainkan Musik Reggae

Israel Vibration adalah trio reggae dari Kingston, Jamaica. Beranggotakan Lascelle “Wiss” Bulgin, Albert “Apple Gabriel” Craig, dan Cecil “Skeleton” Spence, yg ketiganya sama-sama menderita penyakit polio.
Kalo di Brazil kita tahu ada Tribo de Jah yang beranggotakan 4 orang buta dan satu orang buta sebelah.

Lascelle “Wiss” Bulgin, Albert “Apple Gabriel” Craig, dan Cecil “Skeleton” Spence dipertemukan di Pusat Rehabilitasi ketika masih anak-anak. Setelah berpisah cukup lama, dan masing2 dr mereka telah menjadi pengikut Rastafari, mereka kemudian mengadakan reuni dan sepakat untuk membentuk vokal grup dgn nama Israel Vibration.
Setelah merilis single pertama “Why Worry” di tahun 1977, Israel Vibration kemudian merekam 3 album: “The Same Song”, “Unconquered People”, dan “Why You So Craven” yg dibiayai oleh Twelve Tribes of Israel, sebuah kelompok Rastafarian [sekte]. Di tahun 1981, Israel Vibration sempat vakum, mereka bertiga hijrah ke Amerika untuk mendapatkan pengobatan yg lebih instensif dan profesional.
Atas bujukan Gary “Dr. Dread” Himmelfarb, pendiri RAS Records, pada tahun 1988 Israel Vibration kembali masuk studio – Lion and Fox Recording Studios – untuk merekam album ke-4 “Strength of my Life”. Album ke-4 dari Israel Vibration ini banyak menuai pujian krn dianggap sebagai salah satu dari sedikit musisi reggae yg tetap konsiten dgn genre roots pasca-era keemasan genre roots reggae dan banyaknya Dance Hall movement pada tahun itu.
Di tahun 1997, Albert “Apple Gabriel” Craig, menyatakan keluar dr Israel Vibration untuk bersolo karir. Personel yg tersisa tinggalah Skelly dan Wiss yg tetap setia memainkan harmoni roots reggae bersama Israel Vibration.
